I took this photo through the static binoculars at Coliemore Harbour in Dalkey, south of Dublin, on 2 February 2014. The numerous birds congregated on a rock are about the size of cormorants but have white fronts. I wonder if they are Great Northern Divers (Gavia immer)? I cannot recall seeing so many cormorants together. On two rocks there were around 70 individuals.

Cormorants. Great Northern Divers can barely walk on land.

The white fronts suggest 1st year juveniles.
