Internal doors

    Hello
We are hopefully going to start a new build in the next few weeks.
Our design includes 2 large internal slider doors which will have to be custom made. For the other doors, we will probably go with white oak solid doors from one of the main suppliers.
My question is if we get a joiner to make these large sliders, will the white oak they use match the white oak of the other doors from the supplier?

OR should we leave it to our builder to do all the sourcing while consulting with us on design etc? We're new to all this!!

    Many thanks

DO you have a sample of one of these doors to show to your joiner? If he's any way good at all, he wsould be able to match them....

do not leave this to the builder unless the specification and detailed design is really tightly defined. id leave this as a PC item if the latter is not clearly defined.
choose your joinery carefully not only to match colour, but also for help with how and where the sliding track mechanisms will be.
has your designer specified top hung only supports so that floor runs seamless? this might be a specialist item depending on the size of the door.
how will the architraves around the door be treated?
what will the handle be like and will the track be an 'easy open' mechanism?

if you require wood finished doors, you had better be specifying the architraves, floors, kitchen and furniture as tightly defined as the sliding doors. as to much wood (or the wrong type) may not look great..

You should be able to buy 6ft 8" x 2ft 10" doors as standard ( they are made for wheel chair access ). Would these be wide enough fot you.
