My bike has a 105 groupset with tiagra cassette and I've a set of summer wheels I got recently with no cassette so was thinking about a 105 cassette for the spare wheels?? Problem is my current cassette is 12/30 but that's not available on 105 so I'm asking the experts wats next best ratio 11/28?? Thanks

Not much difference between those, so you should be ok. For reference, the lowest gear (28) will be a little bit easier than your current 2nd lowest (27 on the 12-30). Just make sure the new cassette has the same number of cogs, 9 or 10 speed. BTW, there's very little difference between 105 and tiagra, just a small weight saving.

If your intent on getting a 105 cassette you may as we'll go a few quid more and get an 11/28 Ultegra cassette. They're around €40 online.

Thanks lads. Bit of a novice here.
Yes it's 10speed alright was just going with 105 as that's what the rest components are on my tcr 2 and also I have a set of cosmic elites ready to go on just no cassette at the mo.
Is there much point going to ultegra?

About as much point as going to 105, it's unlikely you will notice any difference whatsoever but you will feel better about yourself and it's worth it for that alone.

look at it as the first part of a step by step process of upgrading to full ultegra

My bike is brand new and I have new cosmic elites for it just want a cassette for them so was thinking 105 to keep it all same, but if you guys say ultegra for extra 10e well so be it weres the best place as chain reaction don't have 11/28 available. Thanks again lads

Answer depends on how often you find you need to use the 30 ring and if you could make do with a 28 for the times you do need the lighter gears. Getting a tighter cassette will mean less of a jump between gears

it really is down to personal preference

If you're not doing much climbing why not get an 11-25? Smaller gaps when shifting.
