Hi guys I recently bought a 1.4 civic as a project. As far as I no the d14a4 engine in it comes with 96bhp standard, I could be wrong.. I am looking to get it chipped and remapped.. does anyone know what bhp I could get it chipped to and can I get it remapped for fuel economy as well as chipping it.? So I'm looking for power and fuel economy. Does anyone know somewhere in the Kildare or Dublin area that remaps and chips cars cheap enough.?
Also I rang a lad in Kildare today and he told me the standard 1.4 civic ECU can't be mapped or chipped is there any truth in that.? And if there is what ECU would be the best for me to get for my car that could give me power and good fuel economy when chipped and remapped
Any help or advice is appreciated

    Thanks :-)

As it's a non turbo you will get maybe 5-8bhp at most.

You will however get slightly better throttle response

N/A's won't give great increases like turbo charged engines.

Joe Power appears to be the best, does a lot of Honda too.

    Is he though?

I had my Fabia done by him, did a good job, custom map, put it on the dyno, tweak it etc for me.

If it's not a Vag/Bmw he's a bit limited on what he can offer you imo.

I recommended him to two friends and he couldn't do there cars.

He didn't have the software setup for Mazda MPS turbo petrol range and Honda I-Dtec diesel engines, couldn't do a friend of a friends Auris T180 either.

An english based company in the north mapped all of the above with no problems

Not much point in tuning with 1.4 unless your young and need to keep it for insurance reasons etc.

for the same or even less cash you spend on getting slightly more power from the D14 you could drop in the D15B from jdm Civic VTi and have 125-130bhp instead as a starting point for mods..

these engines can be had for as little as 250e btw;) if you keep an eye out

remapping is for turbo diesels (good) or turbo petrols (better)
    or modifications to above (best)
    remapping a 1.4 n/a is stoopid
sorry but just take these years as learning years and improve yer brakes and tyres if you can. corner speed is speed

Thanks for all the advice guys really appreciated :-) I decided try in to do all that was pointless and I didn't wanna bother putting a d15b into it so I resprayed the car serviced it myself and sold it.. I am now the proud owner of a dc1 teg with a b18 in her :-) she's not type r but sure look sir will do as I'm only 20 wit a learners permit and insurance would be nuts.. thanks for everything though guys
