New PC build for basic gaming

Hey guys, I'm just getting into PC gaming and I'm not crazy about graphics. I was wondering if everything here is okay and what kind of fps I would expect in cs:go or skyrim on medium/high settings.

Id be going for something like below for you budget. What was the price of the PC above?

The 270 is a lot lot stronger than a 260x so I would be at least getting that in the build. Windows is taking so much away from the build. Any buddies that could help you out with it?

He means the 80 euro spent on Windows 7 would be spent better elsewhere on the build.

270 is a lot lot stronger than a 260x. Heres Battlefield 4 for example. 260x is more of a 720P card. 16FPS at 1080P is a huge difference between the two. 260x is struggling in the 30 FPS mark which is not good!

Fx6300 is a lot stronger than a 4130. Have a look at some gaming benchmarks as well.

Wow, that gpu is quite cool, not sure about the processor, it uses am3+ which is kind of outdated now and not great for upgradability. i think i will stay with the 760k for now

The FM sockets are for apu builds which aren't as fast as the Fx cpus.

FM sockets are just for budget processors with integrated graphics and for budget processors. You won't be able to fit processors like the fx6300, 8320 and 8350 which are miles better.

FM2 and AM3+ were released in the same year I believe.

What resolution is the monitor you will be using with it? The likes of cs-go and skyrim would run well at 720p on an AMD apu like the A10 7700K. Combined with fast ram and a bit of an overclock you could push near max settings in both games with a decent frame rate.

If it's 1080p though definitely go with a dedicated graphics card.

Skyrim would run better on the i3 4130 as it can't make use of all the cores on the FX6300. It's a toss up between the 2 but with the upgrade options on socket 1150 I'd be leaning towards the i3.

Something like this. If you really want to cut the cost to €500 you can drop the processor down to this and the graphics down to a 260x. You will still get pretty good results in Skyrim and CS-GO. You're getting a lot more value for money by spending that extra €100 though. It will save you money in the long run and allow you to play more graphically demanding games.

This is just my opinion, the 270x is not worth the extra money. It doesn't outperform the 270 enough to deserve the extra amount you pay for it. Yeah, it is undoubtedly better, but you're as well off saving again and getting a 280x for an extra hundred quid as that is miles better than both.

Sorry to derail a bit, but saves a new topic. Liking the looks of this build and considering it for myself, but what would you say could be improved on if Windows, the Hard Drive andthe Case were removed trying to still keep it in the 500-600 price range? Its for playing Minecraft FTB and my laptop is about to choke!

You could go Intel over the AMD and get a 280 graphics card but would be really overkill just for minecraft.

Well, it could be more then just MC in the future - I don't really know yet, and feed the beast is a lot more intensive then normal Minecraft.

Which Intel? And would changing to the Intel require changing the board too?

Harddrives, I don't know off the top of my head, I think its 2 Seagate 7200RPM 500GB drives, they were upgraded at one stage and I stopped using my desktop much after that as I couldn't afforrd to keep upgrading it.

I have all the basic periferials like, I've my PSU too, but it works without a hitch its about a 400W I think, would I be wise upgrading that too?

You surely can. You can extend the 30 day trial of Windows 7 three times effectively giving you a 4 month trial. It's very simple to do and I can confirm it works as I have been doing it for the last 4 months.

That's €80 extra you can put in the build now and save €20 a month for the next 4 months to go towards Windows.

You can download and install Windows simply and legitimately for the interwebs via USB stick or burnt DVD.
