Anyone any suggestions what colour chippings for driveway would suit a cream colour hse with a black door, granite step and arch. Have concrete at the back of the house, old fieldstone wall at back, front and used this on the kerbing also, it's a brownish colour stone. Confused as whether to put goldish colour stone to match cream house and wall/kerbs or to put greyish colour chippings to match granite arch, step and concrete at back of house.

Cheapest option would be a limestone chipping, no idea of current cost per tonne but the alternative- say pebble or crushed stone in colour could be cost around €125- 150 per tonne delivered. Depending on ground conditions and depth a 1 tonne bag might cover only 6 sq. m or so. I would guess that limestone chippings would cost about half this. My prices are only a rough guide; I've used this crowd in the past, but a local supplier may be more appropriate for you:

Roscommon buff is good value. Try goodwins for that.

There's a place in naas with a good selection. Google naas patio centre.

Also roadstone retail belgard. But they're expensive for anything other than standard greyish driveway pebble. Though that isn't as plain as you might think.

I find 14mm is a good size, better than 10mm.
