Look at all he has done for his constituents,he is an ambassador for the kingdom and one of the few that could tame the
    Last govt.
Pity more healy rays were not in power sure we would not be in the mess we are in.

I thought the "patience" game was a bit odd - every panel revealed 10K while the others got 2k, 4k, crap holidays etc. I hmmed a bit tbh and I don't usually either hmmm or watch whinning sctreak.

Fair play to them, during the summer I drove from Killarney to Kenmare via Killgarvan and the road was top notch, good roads save lives and prevent serious injuries.

Anyways, which one of them was on last night? Would have been nicer to see someone without the Resources of the HR Clan appearing on the show, but hey, thems the breaks.

Marty looks massive with his hair transplant, also he has the last non-ironic moustache on the box, thought he had more chemistry with Geri Maye, probably just because of her last name. ( Geri Maye and Marty Wood)

Aye, but getting this achieved via "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine" tactics isn't the ideal way to go about it.

Are you aware how politics works the whole World over? As sops go,that was a pretty minor thing.
Do the people living there deserve quality roads throughout the year or are the taxpayers there only entitled to a few shovels of tarmac to fill in the potholes a week or two Before you or I visit the Place?

Didn't think Winning Streak could be any more cringeworthy than it actually is.

    Quadruple facepalm

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I wonder why the Healy-Rae's are so keen on getting road building projects for their constituency...

What's that? They rent out road-building equipment and so make a fat profit from every project in the area?

    I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

The Healy Raes remind me of those characters D'unbelievables used to do- can't remember the name, Leary I think- who owned the shop, pub, undertakers, local TD, etc.

They also remind me of the title of a Bruce Springsteen song... "We take care of our own".

They are also keen on helping isolated older people to socialize by allowing them a higher drink-driving limit - Is it just another coincidence that half the family are publicans?

"The five who voted in favour - Mr Healy-Rae, his son Johnny Healy-Rae, Michael Cahill, Bobby O'Connell and Michael O'Shea - are all publicans, former publicans or connected to the pub trade."

I was reacting to your observation that the Healy-Rae's are possibly just keen on improving local infrastruction by pointing out that they have also used political means to attempt to change the drink driving laws for their locality, which incidentally would improve trade for their pub businesses.

The common theme is not local wellbeing, it is increased trade for the Healy-Raes.

Also a coincidence that there members of the council handing out the contracts!

Well it is, the locals are being 'looked after' by their own...the rest of the country can go to hell for all they care. Why do you think the H-R's get re-elected time after time?? Dublin can snigger all it wants as far as they're concerned.

Don't the Healy Rae's try and make out that they are "ordinary" when it comes to finances?

Ya because the dubs made a fine job in electing Bertie ahern 3 times. A true and honest politician and gentleman!

You know about the auld fella and the automatic phone calls from that hallowed chamber in Kildare St ........... is there, is there just a possibility that one of those scratchcards would eventually give you a win if you kept scratching it?
Now they can visit The Hair Club and get a pair of discounted decent wigs ....... BOGOFF
