    Hi,
I'm building my first pc soon and I'm finalising the build.
I'd like to know if all of the parts i've picked are compatible and/or if there are any better options on the parts for a similar price.

    The build is:

    CPU: AMD Fx-6300
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970-UD3P
    GPU: Sapphire R9 270 OC with Boost 2GB GDDR5
    RAM: 8gbs-kit Corsair vengence DDR3 1600MHz CL9
    Case: Corsair Carbide Series 200r
    PSU: Corsair CX500
    Storage: Seagate Barracuda 7200 1000GB
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24F1ST (bulk) silent
    Monitor: Acer G246HLBBID 24"
Keyboard & Mouse: Cooler Master Storm Devestator set
Speakers: Logitech LS21 2.1 speaker system
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

    Any help would be great.

Is a good solid build. Do not get the keyboard from there as it will be German layout.

The monitor is 155 on amazon. If it is same price on hwvs go amazon. Much better customer care.

I found this out, it was obvious too  I got used to it though after a while :)
Get an SSD if you can though, they are a fantastic upgrade. I read a review once (think it was Anandtech) where the tested the effect of an SSD in Crysis 2. They gained 3-5 fps in parts of game where there are a lot of read and writes. Biggest bonus though is that it makes the pc so much snappier. When you go to the expense and effort of building a pc from scratch like you are, the addition of an SSD will make it feel worth it the 1st time you boot it up.

SSD is a nice luxury have for both os and games,

I have to say when it comes to games I don't care what anyone says , I am In game playing while my mate still in loading.

I took it a step further and set up 2 x Samsung 840 pro's in RAID0. I've loaded a map in BF4, spawned in a jet, flew accross the map and bombed a quad bike just as it was pulling out of their spawn :D:D
He must have been raging. Well worth getting one, should be a high priority imo.

If I was to go for an SSD , what storage should i go for and what manufacturer?

You could still get the HDD, and get an SSD for operating system and a few games. Put everything else on the HDD. For this a 250GB SSD would be plenty. There are a few good manufacturers. The Samsung 840 Pro or Evo, OCZ, Corsair, Intel etc. Any of the newer models are fast.

I got 2 crucial m500 240gb ssd's. I'm going to put them in a raid 0. Just have to use a backup though. I'd been looking at thessdreview.com for opinions on them. They were €95 each. I signed up to a trial of amazon prime so got a bit of a discount of them.

Would the Samsung 840 EVO basic 120GB SATA 6Gb/s be enough as it is one of the only SSD's that fits my budget ?

Yes that would be fine, not quite the same performance in benchmarks, but you'd never notice in reality.
