Why does it need to be up so high? Is it an apartment complex? I know someone in North Cork. If you want PM me what you are wiling to pay and I'll pass it on.

Basically the sky engineer said he cant go up that high to put it in. Now I was at work at the time so I couldnt really argue with him. There is an apartment over the courtyard with sky but they have a balcony and the lad asked me to go to the neighbour to run a wire from there dish. THAT WONT HAPPEN...so I was thinking it could always just go on the 3rd floor out of the way of the people below me yano. Basically its six apartment up either side of a porch. If this guy could do it for me I would be willing to pay any man 100-150 euro if you wanna just pass that on...

No you didn't. Sky don't use engineers for this. They use installers.

An engineer would have been able to do the job.

Not really your fault - Sky Customer Services always refer to their installers as engineers. Presumably, it sounds better.

If he suggested that hes a total amateur, not to mention the electrical safety risk of connecting to another dish without earth bonding.

Who suggested there was no earth bonding?

The electrical safety risk is vastly over exaggerated. If the neighbours dish was live due to an electrical fault on his gear you could get a belt (240 volts). If there was a similar fault on your gear (2 faults very unlikely) you could get a phase to phase belt (415 volts).

In practice it is not uncommon for neighbours to share dishes.

Why would there be ? If there was then why would he need a dish installed ?

By whom ? I'm sure his insurance company would immediately invalidate his insurance let alone the exposure to legal action by any injured party.

Sorry but that's just nonsense , why bother with bonding at all in that case ?

All dishes should be earth bonded, but tell me how does earth bonding get around the need to install a dish? Earth bonding won't receive satellite signals unless you know something no one else does.

Your either trolling or you really have no clue what you are talking about, either way I'll leave you to it.:)

I've been installing dishes since 1988 and I do know what I'm talking about.

You clearly stated that if there was earth bonding he would not need a dish installed. Explain.
