Golf mark 3 [hose missing]

    Not sure if this is right place 'but here goes .My grandson bought a golf mark 3... 1997... 1.4 not a bad little car' but some time later we noticed that a hose and some sort of attachment that goes from the manifold to the air filter is missing .The poor sod has tried everywhere in nth dublin without success 'does anyone know what this part looks like 'and where he might get it.As i said this part is missing so i can't put up a photo

    assuming its the air pipe running from the air filter box to the throttle body, they are usually just 2 1/2"(ish) plastic pipes with jubilee clip or similar. I would assume any motor factor can order one. Otherwise try a breakers yard

    *edit* actually, could you take a picture of where the part should be in the engine bay, that way we are all talking about the same thing

    i will take a picture 'but this is a flexi hose going from the manifold cover to the air filter it's about inch and a half in diam it seems to connect to a heat operated valve connected to the air filter housing

    I think whats missing is a hose(pipe) that is meant to bring warm air from over the exhaust manifold to the air intake . This is meant to prevent 'icing' in the system during very cold weather - and is controlled by a temp sensitive valve.
    The hose is usually silver in colour , is flexible and has a corrugated surface .
    Motor factors used to stock rolls of it - but not much demand for it now I'd say.
    Measure the diameter of the connections and most factors will be able to give you whatever length you want. You'll also need a hose clip for each end
