    Hi guys

I recently bought an Onkyo HTS 4505 5.1 set up complete with DTS HD/Dolby TrueHD decoding receiver.

The included speakers that came with the set up are perfect, however the centre speaker (for dialogue-driven films especially) crackles a bit when there is shouting or loud voices etc in films.

Can you recommend a good center speaker to replace the onkyo one?

Budget about €150 including delivery charges.

    Thanks!
    Sam

    Hi Sam,

Thanks for getting in touch, and apologies about the delay in getting back to you.

The likes of the Cambridge Audio S50 at £99.95 would be a good start point.  It would go along nicely with the Onkyo surround speakers.

Check the link below for more info:

If you'd prefer something to match in with your system check out the Monitor Audio Radius 200 centre speaker priced at £169.95.  This would sound great, and look the part too with your current system.  Check the link below for more info:

Let me know what you think.

what is the difference between the two soundquality-wise? what do you mean by matching in with my system? do these use the two wire connectors?

    Hi again,

A good bit more detail from the Monitor Audio over the Cambridge Audio.  The Radius 200 is from their award winning Radius R90HT1 speaker pack.  This 5.1 pack got the best style speaker pack between £1,400 - £1,600.

The Radius will match in well as going by memory the satellite speakers from the Onkyo are quite small so you don't want a centre speaker that will over power the other speakers.

Yup, both are 2 wire connections.

Thanks for that Kenny. I am going to see if I can adjust my current center to suit my needs and if not, I will take one. Cheers.
