Does anyone use one these to revitalise a old battery. They seem to be costly at top price of €300 +. Would it be worth getting one. Have a few tractor batteries could do for eletric fence?

wouldnt use batteries that have been lying around for a long time. better off starting off with new 12v battery and charge it every month. battery charger will pay for itself after a few months. you will get one for less the 300 anyway. always try cover battery beside the fencer aswell to stop corrosion.

Also with battery left in a field try to put it into a peace of plywood or sum sort of timber as it stops the draw of current from the ground.

Yes I seen them but I was wondering do they do as good a job as the dear ones. I also had a look in the Motor forum and it was rather negitave the views on them in general.

My digger battery would go down after a few days , so I bought one of these , I should have bought a new battery instead

Mate bought one ,got a loan of it to try on two batteries, one of which was still in a machine but starting to loose its kick, waste of time.

I've found and been pleasantly surprised that using a solar panel with a diode directly on a car or tractor battery (that won't hold a charge) whilst attached to a fence energiser does a fine job!
The batteries that I have used are no more good for vehicles. And typically ( when hooked up to a charger) are very quick to charge but also very quick to discharge. So:rolleyes: you can use your obsolete car/tractor battery to power your fence aslong as you have a solar panel.
My panel is 5W. And I use it with a 60Ah battery , 10Kv fence energiser which does 1km at about 7Kv.

Would advise you to put an isolator switch on the batteries. Diggers have been known to go on fire because of shorts. Mine was doing the same. Don't leave them running unattended either.
