New shoes

Couldn't find a thread about casual shoes here but if there is one already someone might post a link please.

TLDR: Can someone recommend some smart casual shoes for jeans and a shirt?

Recently I have changed my whole style. I wear a suit in work so I always just wore jeans, runners and t-shirts when I was out and about. And just hoodies and trackies at home. I have changed to a smart casual look for when I go out over the last few months and feel better already. Bought some nice shirts, knitted tops, jackets and some quality jeans and trousers. The trouble is I can't find any shoes that I like or feel comfortable wearing and they are the only missing piece.

I always hated wearing shoes, even in school and I still hate wearing them in work but going out all dressed up with my girlfriend and having a pair of white runners ruining the outfit isn't good. So guys, any help in the shoe department is appreciated. Black preferably.

Why not try Clark's or just go for sketchers. Boat shoes are also an option.
Nothing wrong with runners but there are so many options out there to choose from.

    So just randomly

Totally random - just wander around until something catches your eye, just make sure they are a comfy fit and not too loose or tight.

Clarkes wouldn't be too stylish though. Very old man, no offence!

Best shoes I ever bought were Ted Baker. Seriously good. And different to most. Schu sell them.

Clarkes do a good range and I don't think they are exclusively boring old man design anymore. That said I am not a big fan of them as I found the wear in them to be excessive pretty quickly.
I like my hush puppies but they may be a bit casual to what you are looking for. Try River Island maybe?

A nice brogue like these will dress up many outfits and look well

    Couldn't recommend these more highly:

Have them in all 3 colours... really comfortable and I think they look well with jeans too

If you don't mind splashing out (and I think shoes are worth splashing out on), Camper shoes look great on men imo and there's a sale on now:

I'm in the same situation. Been wearing runners for years and want to get a pair of shoes. I feel weird wearing them as I'm so used to my converse or Adidas.
I have a pair though. Good sole on them. They saved me from slipping on frost a few times :D
I'll check the ideas on here.

I wear nothing but Clarkes shoes/ boots or my walking boots. In fact, the only runners I have is a pair of Stan Smiths that I bought about 7 or 8 years ago! Still look new! :D

If you want to buy Clarkes go down to their outlet in the Kildare Village outlets as you can pick up some great bargains.

Likewise with the boots. Being wearing Magnum boots for the past few years, mainly as they're breathable and very comfy. Got the most recent pair in Ramblersway on Marys Street. No "breaking in" of the boots required, have worn them straight away from the shop. I got the Cobra; they shine up well.

Probably the only shoe I dislike. Sorry.
