Hinch just outside Tullamore did a 16.9 digger tyre for me during the summer.90 euro I think it cost but not 100% sure. They melts rubber into outside of tyre and put a gaiter inside it as well . Hard set to see it unless you are within a foot of it. They do a lot of it . I met a man from Meath there. Only thing is you have to drop it and collect after 2 days.

I took the wheel with tyre on it , still hard but with the tube appearing out through a cut in the side. Got it back pumped hard . They write your name with chalk on the side when you go there and ,mine must have been one of 15 down the yard when I collected it. Maybe they might not be too busy this day of the year and do it while you wait?? Did you ever put A 4 wd cable in it? Wondering about where the ball goes when you put it together. I got a similar conversion done on a 12145 with old type steering during the summer. It was very heavy for years but basically exploded one day mowing. I think parts are extinct for that unit and mechanics would sooner restore the Titanic than one of those units. Conaty does a sort of kit for the job and had to get a plate profile cut fits to existing holes out near the end of the axle to mount the ram on. Got into enough of money but what do you do when it failed totally in the field.

ya i put a 4 wd drive cable on it, they should be a spring and a ball, it acts as a detent spring like in a gear box which stops it hopping out of gear. on top of the 4 wd unit where the cable goes in you have 2 hole's, one is where the feed pipe goes and the other will have a 17mm head bolt on it, open that and drop your ball in and then put your spring in then replace bolt.

the axle on my 8145 did not have mounting holes so i removed the front axle and welded 2 plate's on it to hold the ram. alot of work :) worth it i think.

The holes were out at near the ends of the axle. The man did it for me threaded two more holes in it . The plate could be 3.5 ft long 13mm plate x 6 " wide. Thanks for the help. I got the cable off a man a month ago and I think he was at a wedding today and didn't answer his phone. I forgot what he told me but he did say to reuse its own spool, not to use the new one on the new cable. My tractors are both working tractors . Are you restoring for work or play ? Money goes no where at these jobs and ZETOR stuff is fairly reasonable.

ya i think i know now the holes your talking about, it wouldnt suit the ram that i had, i got the ram of a old loading shovel that we have scraped. the plate i used is 24mm top and bottom and the ram fits in the middle of the 2 plates and a pin holds it in place. every body does it slightly different, saw a 12045 done with 2 plates with 2 holes in them, then clamped to the axle with treaded bar, then he welded a peace on to the plate to hold the ram. it works perfect but it just looks like a D.i.y job, not professional job.
ya money goes no where at it. its going to be a working tractor, just going to get everything working correctly and tidy it up a bit for the road, not going to go completely mad and having it like it just came of a production line . its 87 but 93 on the tax book, bit to early to retire it i think :). i sent the bonnet off to get sand blasted today, should have that done in the next week or so.
