Hows it going. I have my 1210 here and i was not able to raise the tonearm by twisting the thing at the bottom (sorry bad on names) that is used to raise it. Today I took everything out and cleaned them and greased them, yet now i still cant raise it by twisting the piece. Anyone know whats wrong? its annoying me. I have even tried messing with the lock mechanism

It's probably just seized. Put some WD40 on it and see if that loosens it.

Try heating with maybe a hot water bottle (I know, sounds made) and that may help loosen it.

I dont know, because I could take everything off individually fine, but when i put it back, thats when it stopp;ed working. would it be to do with how tight the screws are when they were put back in?

So you could adjust the height previously?

No thats why i took it apart, i thought it might be dust (they were filthy, everything was with dust) so i cleaned everything and still nothing

You're confusing me now. First you said that you took everything off fine but it only stopped working when you put it back together.

Either way, it's one of two thing. It's either just seized from rust or crud buildup or it was taken apart and put back together incorrectly, i.e. the threads have been rung.

Aw right sorry ill start again. It didnt twist so i took it apart, thinking it would be due to the dust build up. I cleaned and greased all the threads, put it back together, and still could not twist it. Are there any vids on putting it back together correctly? theres loads taking it apart but not putting it back, I think I may have had a problem with the threads alligning, although im not sure

One of my height adjusts was seized when I bought the TT about a month ago.

Since then, I've been sitting looking at it thinking ' I'd reaaaly rather not take it apart and fix it'..

So yesterday I squirted a small amount of 3-in-one spray oil into the lil' gap around the bottom of the adjust ring, and left it to soak in. Today - voila, fixed!

I assume from your posts that you've already had it apart, so must be some sort of thread alignment issue...

Viperfrank is good, very clear and concise videos on a range of Technics fix-it-yourself topics!
