    Hey all,
We have just got a multi fuel stove installed in our living room yesterday. We took out an open fire and removed the fire surround, mantle and hearth. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to decorating around it. I was thinking of stone effect tiles behind it and a large wooden surround, thing is i haven't got a big budget for it. Any suggestions appreciated, really looking to finish this as least expensive as possible.

Why not try tile shops for end of line tiles-might work out cheaper this way. You will probably only need a couple of m2s. A mantle as opposed to a full surround might be cheaper too- got a 2 metre one in mayo for€90 when we fitted stove a few years ago. It's stained to colour required and looks very well. Good luck!

Our house was bought shell so we had the option to put in open fire or stove. We went for a stove so after the pipe works were laid we blocked the whole with bricks and then we covered the wall (surround) by stone cladding.

To give you an idea I've attached two pictures.
