Can there be any reason why my prescription last month in one chemist cost €70 and this month in a different chemist cost €50? Do I have to ring around all local chemists before filling script to see who gives me the best price? And it's not the generic version, not available yet. I is fuming - feel like going back to orginal chemist and gettin my €20 back!

There are different models for adding the dispensing fee, e.g.

medicine + fixed €5 dispensing fee
    medicine + 20% dispensing fee

Depending on how your pharmacy operates a particular drug might be cheaper in one than another.

If you want to get the best price for your prescription, then yes it is advisable to shop around. Like doctors, dentists and other healthcare providers, different pharmacies will charge different prices.
