West Cork Wedding Venue Feedback - The Rectory?

    Hello,

I'm looking for somewhere a bit different for my wedding and wondering if anyone had any feedback on venues.

We've looked at Blairscove (too small), Inish Beg (too small or with marquee too expensive) and The Rectory.

We did really like The Rectory so I'm wondering if anyone has been at a wedding there recently and has any feedback? It's stunning location but working out at €95 a head which is quick expensive. Had anyone been able to bargain a better deal?

In terms of numbers - we're thinking 100 - 120 with 30-50 for afters and summertime

    Thanks!

We loved the venue but decided it was too small with similar numbers. I have never been to a wedding there but was very impressed when we took the tour around. I have spoken to people who have attended weddings and functions there and said it was beautiful but wouldn't have liked to have more than 80-90 guests. Everyone agreed that the food was spectacular though. We didn't get the impression there was much bargaining to be had with them but seemed to come up with a figure of €80-85 a head(this was 2 years ago though). We ended up going with Innishannon House Hotel and had a fantastic experience with them.

I have been at a wedding there as a guest, and The Rectory is a lovely venue. The only thing I will say, is that the accommodation there is very limited. We were allocated a room by the couple, but the price the place quoted was 350 euro for the night. Yikes. And they were advertising 250 for other nights to the public around the same time. I gave them a call to discuss, and they practically hung up on me. No discussion whatsoever.

Anyway, that aside, the wedding was a buffet, and it was very nice. That wouldn't be as expensive as the full meal I'd guess?

Hello, There isn't any accommodation with The Rectory - was it in the hotel close to it - The Marine - that you stayed?

Must have been, it's years ago now, sorry I can't remember much more. I only remember the accommodation being awkward anyway for that wedding and I have an email telling to my husband about the cost of it (that's where I got those figures). It's always so handy to be able to pop up to a room for a few minutes to change shoes/fix clothes/fix hair etc.

I got married in the Rectory 6 years ago and I couldn't have faulted any part of the venue; our friends still remind us how nice the setting, the staff and the meal was. When we got married there the max number they catered for was 85.

We attended a friend's reception there about 3 years ago (they got married in the small chapel next door). It was a beautiful summer day and the views out over the bay were beautiful. I remember the reception rooms as being elegant and comfortable and we really enjoyed the day. It really did feel very special.

Only issue is that it can be really hard, depending on the time of year, to get accommodation near Glandore. We ended up staying in a B&B near the Celtic Ross.
