So Garth Brooks sold 250,000 tickets yesterday. That means that there are at least 250,000 people who don't like music.

To generalise completely, there are 2 type of people in the country: those who are like music, and those who don't like music.

Those who like music regulary attend gigs or events at Whelans, Vicar St, the National Concert Hall, Dolans, Cypress Avenue, Roisin Dubh, the Wexford Opera Festival, the Fleagh Ceoil (those that are there for the music and not to get shítfaced), Electric Picnic...you get the drift.

Those who don't like music will buy tickets for a Garth Brooks concert.

There were queues in every county apparently.

Great to see people with different tastes in music.

And there are those who choose to go to whatever concert they want to go to without chestbeating about their "superior" taste in music or belittle and patronise those who like thee type of music they like.

And others who do listen to this apparently "superior" music/venues (although I have seen some terrible acts in Whelans, Vicar St, Roisin Dubh, Picnic, Glasto etc as well as class acts there) who, shock, horror, ALSO choose to go to big concerts like Garth Brooks.

    Amazing!!!!

Bit weird OP to say the least, people have different tastes, if everyone loved the same things it would be a boring world.
As for the "what counties", I'm sure the 32 counties are represented somehow.

I hate the sight of Brookes but each to their own.

Brooks made a basic pricing mistake, he should have charged them at least double the price, and he'd still milk them dry.

I don't know how Garth Brooks suddenly became the most popular man alive when I haven't heard his name spoken since 1993 (which incidentally appears to be the last time he had a photo taken), but sure let them at it.

    That's some payday.

    240,000 tickets @ €70 a pop is 16,800,000. That's a very nice pay day. A person could retire on that :)

We can do a little maths lesson here.

    240,000 tickets / 32 counties.

    Safe assumption: every county.

    Hope this helps.

i would revise that figure upwards for these gigs

Slightly patronising OP, but essentially, I agree with you. The ridiculous frenzy kicked up by grown adults over seeing a very mediocre country artist (there are brilliant country artists) is cringe worthy.

I've always been of the opinion that Bon Jovi make rock music for people who don't like rock. Garth Brooks uses an almost evangelical approach to disguise the fact that he's not particularly good at anything. Mediocre, at best!
