For my team I send the texts from my O2 online account. 500 free texts per month. Two credit phones, 1,000 texts per month. Might be worth a look. Even if you had to buy credit regularly you could use the credit for club calls. Say €20 pm per phone, €240 per annum per phone.

Most clubs I know use www.clickatell.com. If you are not sending texts to international numbers they offer great value and have a good admin area for managing different groups.

If you login to the GAA admin system they also offer a text service for good value but as we were using clickatell before this became available we never switched to it.

    the gaa prices are here:
    http://helpdesk.servasport.com/entries/37624798-SMS-Costs-

not sure if they are better or worse than the alternatives, but at least you have the benefit that you are working off the members database so ýou arent trying to manage 2 members lists, one for the registration and one for sms

I have. They put adverts into their texts and all that ****e. That pisses ppl off.

Personally, I think the phone with texting only is the best option. If you got a good deal for €20/30 a month which could be managed from webtext also then you'd be laughing...

Sports text by Grapevine are used by CCB. Anybody know what kind of rate they give?

Do any of the group text providers like Clickatell allow you to pay by cheque? I don't fancy giving my personal credit card for club business.

Thanks, very interesting. It mentions about 'sending Roll Number' at one place, but also mentions about other organisations and businesses, so I presume that it's not limited to schools?

    I've used teamer.net for years.
Great for organising teams/events making sure you have a team and then tracking results etc etc as well if you want.
Never had a problem with it.

We use it for a basketball club I'm involved with, so shouldn't be an issue for sports teams.
