Switch has become very unreliable on my SMART 30 so I'm going to get one of the BBB Strike 500 (€89.10) or the BBB Strike 300 (€71.10). It's mostly for urban commuting, but I do a bit on unlit roads.

Does anybody have practical experience with either of these lights?

I got the 500 at the start of this winter and I have been very satisfied. I use it for my commute which is 10 miles mostly along a busy N road and a bit of rural backroads. PLenty bright enough for those conditions I think

USB charger is handy as I have various mains plugs to USB for other devices at work which I can use to charge the light. A full charge lasts me about 1.5 hours on the max power but you can make it last a lot longer by cutting down the brightness if necessary (it still is pretty bright on the second setting)

Think this would be a better buy you'll get a front and rear for less
    http://www.rutlandcycling.com/141695/products/lezyne-macro-micro-drive-2014-front-rear-bike-light-set---black-silver.aspx

I have the 2013 set which has 300 lumens on the front the 2014 has 350 and the're very good. The rear is the brightest I've seen. The front is usually my second light/backup to a Lezyne superdrive but I've used it a good bit on it's own as well and it is nearly as good. The beam throws as far as the superdrive on full and actually further than it comparing the mid and low settings. The beam is not as wide as the superdrive but it's more than adequate for the road. I actually prefer the brackets on the macro very handy for taking of and moving between bikes. Used them there own in the summer to cycle back after league races.

The superdrive has the advantage on longer spins though as I can carry a spare battery. The claimed runtimes seem to be accurate. The macrodrive claims 8hrs on low which is actually ok. Will be testing that on the Easter fleche. May have B&M dynamo light before that though if I can decide on a winter/audax type bike.

Great review of lights on road.cc although they don't have the BBB lights on it.

How long do people find the battery lasts and is it good for rural/unlit roads.

    Thanks

I find it good for rural/country roads.i see well.its more of a beam type light that streches out rather than spreads out.i only go maybe 1hr -1.5hr at night though with a mixture of full beam and next one down.havent gone out longer than that so not sure your requirements.it does me
