Just a quick note to let everyone know we are back out this Sunday 2nd Feb for our beginner spins meeting outside shop in Rathmines 8.45am wheels roll 9.00am sharp. Distance about 40k at controlled speed.
Initially we will be running these spins for the month of February and depending on interest / commitment shown will determine how we proceed going forward.
As I have said in previous years these spins are ideal for people new to group riding looking to train for various goals or events which they wish to partake in throughout the year

    All Welcome

Please note : Drop bar road bikes only please . Helmets compulsory and please bring spare tubes.

I've only just seen this now. Live near Rathmines so this would suit me. Can I ask how much climbing involved? I'm an enthusiastic beginner. I've done a few 50 and 60k spins. I can do 20-25k/HR on flat without too much bother but terrible at hills for example had to get off and push for about 50m on steepest part of Cruagh last week. This is the main reason I've been reluctant to try a group ride to date as I would obviously get left far behind and I don't want group leaders having to look after me. That and I use cage pedals as still too afraid to use clipless in traffic!

    Hi Doc
Don't be worrying your exactly the reason we run the beginners spins to introduce people to group riding and with distances starting at 40/50 k with no climbing for the first few weeks there is no reason not to come out and give it a try we had a lovely spin this morning.
For duration of the beginner spins everyone leaves and returns together no one gets left behind.
So if you are up for it see you next Sunday 8.45 am outside shop in Rathmines.
Or if you have any further questions give me a shout on here .
    Cheers
