Hey guys, so I was going home today and saw a GoSafe Van parked at a gate... Upon closer inspection, the gate said "NO PARKING".
GoSafe Van Driver didn't want to talk to me, so... I took photos.

Will forward them to RSA soon :D

And me. But could it being parked illegally create an issue?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is there a second "Rules Of The Road for GoSafe Vans" ?

Forgot to mention the dangerous location - a long stretch of straight road going downhill.
It was parked - its engine was off, unfortunately it was within the "dangerous zone" as marked on the Garda map.

Station Rd in Newbridge to be exact.

By cause an issue I meant more if the van is parked illegally taking pictures to be used as legal evidence against drivers speeding would it hold up in court as being illegally obtained evidence.

The no parking sign seems to be to private land. So he is not breaking the law. If the owner of the land comes a long I presume the driver would be courteous enough to move.

Its not like its abandoned, the driver is there so it can be moved if needed and its a NO PARKING sign that you can buy in the local motor factors, I could stick one of those anywhere, doesn't mean anything.

Yet another dangerous zone (like this highly dangerous zone), another one to add to the list

Yet if it was your gate, you wouldn't be too happy to find a GoSafe van parked there, would ya?

Pointless thread is pointless. Van is parked on private property safely off the road. The sign is a private sign which has zero standing in law. I'm sure if the land owner came along and had a problem with the van the driver would move it.

The "dangerous" location which "necessitates" these vans is a different matter.

Cant legally park infront of /blocking an entrance to private property without owners consent. Same as the pricks who park outside shops and schools wherever they please thinking they are grand because they throw on the hazards or are nearby. For all we know the RSA have permission.

I would like to formally page the usual high horses for another great speeding and enforcement argument..

No it's not. The pricks who park outside shops and schools with hazards are doing so on public roads and can be legally sanctioned by Gardai/Traffic wardens.

There is no such sanction for parking on private property. Maybe the landowner could take a civil action or injunction against someone parking without his consent but that's about it.

Throw on the hazards ? Y'know you are sadly out of touch with the real life situation viz-a-viz parking in this little run down country of ours. Y'see those 'hazard parking lights' have, in Ireland, acquired a new function that the designer never really intended and all but a few fully understand. Now Dail Eireann can run late, have endless and pointless discussions about parking laws, and draft all those little bitty parking restrictions for as long as it likes but know this, dear driver, all those laws are set at nought once we flick on our hazard warning lights. We can doublepark, block public and private residences, crowd and obstruct school gateways, park in invalid parking bays, ditto in bus stops and all because we have that all powerful 'hazard warning light' which sets at 'Nil' the powers of the legislature. And woe betide the parking attendant who dares to bring a little corrective action.....was he blind ?...did he not see the 'hazards'....isn't that what they are for,? Loooove my hazards !

You have little to be doing mate, I mean if you can't see this thing you are probably to drunk to drive.

The speed cameras in here in vic are plain station wagons. This thing is huge and yellow and reflective to boot. If this thing catches you you should be given another ticket for driving without attention.

The guy would have made a call and said "some lo la is giving me grief for the assigned spot"

He would have been told to leave before you got violent.

I approached with a smile and just knocked on the window - all I wanted to ask is just if he noticed the "No Parking" sign. I saw this thing from a mile away, but since I know that area like the back of my head, all I wanted to know is if he was just aware he parked at the gate (that has been recently in use).

Do you approach everyone you see stopped by no parking signs?

These guys are possibly briefed and trained not to engage with unkNown people. He made the call not to talk to you.

You took pictures of his car ffs

If someone took pictures of me at work I would be very uneasy.
