Hi,............. My friend brought her 206 for nct today and she failed on the following.
:The indicators will not work unless the park lights are turned on :..
BTW...they passed car last year and they (NCT Tester) said it was not a problem ...so I guess its who you get on the day.
I know from a quick web search that these switches are a known problem.
Someone who knows about this stuff may have an easy fix ..The garage are giving serious big quotes for this repair 400+...she has not this sort of cash.
The ironic thing is that she always drives with her parks on..she reckons ...be safe ,,,be seen.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Thanks for reading thread whether you can help or not.:)

Find an independent mechanic or preferably an auto electrician to take a look at it.

It's the unit behind the wheel that controls all the switch functions, it's toast. It's called the comms 2000, they're about €60-80 from a breakers yard. You must be sure you're getting one off the same generation car, and with the same features (fogs, rear wipers, auto wipers, auto lights, trip computer, etc.). Ideally the part numbers would match on the new and the old units, but it is possible for different part numbers to work fine.

It's maybe a half hour job, you have to take the airbag and steering wheel off and then it's right in front of you. Definitely not €400+, unless that includes a brand new comms unit. Most decent mechanics should have encountered this before, the same unit is used on pretty much all Peugeots and Citroens since ~2000 and they're very prone to failure.
