Insulation and air tightness

Looking for some advice on insulating a self build. Using 50 mm insulated plasterboard on external walls. In order to improve air tightness I am going to plaster block work. Will this be sufficient or will I need an air tightness membrane. If so any recommendations. On the roof I was looking at spray foam between rafters but concerned with air flow for roof timbers. Any advice appreciated.

    1. Sand/cement render to blockwork is sufficient for air tightening walls. Don't forget wall to floor junctions need taping as well and make sure that you know where the dew point of the wall is going to be.
    2. I'm not a fan of spray foam at all. Is this a dormer? If the thermal envelope is along the rafters, would you not consider an airtight warm roof construction.

Heard mixed reports about the spray foam. Much quicker job to complete if done right but similar in price to PIR board. It's a 1 1/2 story construction.
