New UPS Woes

So, I'm setting up a small server room with small UPS. I ordered all the kit which also included a small power distribution panel for about 10 three pin plugs. The thinking being, I'd like to have my monitor, router and switch on the UPS too.

Anyway, The three pin power distribution panel has itself got a three pin plug. It's a bit useless as I can't plug it into the UPS. I want to convert the three pin plug into the bottom socket so I can plug it into the GROUP 3 socket on the UPS.

Is there an adaptor out there that can do this?

You don't want to cut the BS1363 plug off the cable from the power distribution panel and rewire in an IEC C20?

I don't think that BS1363 socket to IEC C20 adapters will be readily available for health and safety reasons.

That was my backup plan.

Since the power cable on the PDU side doesn't detach, you'd have to make one.

Same hack, a one port common variety socket extension lead with the c20 in place of the plug and lots of warning labels to prevent it being misused in some damaging way.

But the PDU would keep it's warranty. (provided no-one tries to put 16A through the homebrew lead.)

The pins are different on his UPS, you'll notice. They are horizontal and rated for a higher current. C20 not C14.

Thanks for all the info.

So if I get this, I can safely plug the PDU into Group 2 sockets rather than directly into Group 3?

Group 1 is going to have three servers.
Group 2 was to be empty.
Group 3 was going to be the PDU which will only have 1 monitor, 1 router and 1 x 24 port non POE switch.

Sorry, unless I'm out of date or something, I think that Group 1-3 describe the circuit layout internal to the UPS rather than a connector standard.

If the UPS has C13 outputs then you can use the C14 adapters like gctest50 linked.

Yeah, Group 1 and 2 take regular kettle leads. Group 3 [on my APC 3000VA UPS] takes the C20 in the OP picture.
