    Hi,
What's the difference between Permeability (m3/hr.m2) and Specific Leakage (m3/hr.m2) in an Airthgitness test result?

    Hi,
What's the difference between Permeability (m3/hr.m2) and Specific Leakage (m3/hr.m2) in an Airthgitness test result?

as both units as the same, id have to say nothing.

we used the phrase 'air permeability' here and 'specific leakage' seems to be an american term.

There must be some difference in what is being measured even though the Units are the same. Attached is the table of results:
    Permeability: 1.961
    Specific Leakage: 5.090

The Permeability is at q50 and the Leakage is at w50 (I presume the 50 is Pressure Diff, not sure about q and w)

the q50 is whats applicable to irish regulations

n50 is applicable to passive house

    w50 is another measurement method.

    Good man:),
That's exactly what I was looking for. Here's the summary table from the Appendix of the article in case anyone else is interested:

Measurement Name Measurement is based on Unit of Measurement
q50 Square metres of external envelope area m3/(hr.m2)
n50 Volume of the building ACH (Air changes per hour)
w50 Square meters of floor area m3/(hr.m2)
