    Hi

My wife is a full time secondary School Teacher, after Maternity leave is up, is it just unpaid leave and she gets €230 per week?

Does she get any of her allowances?

    What are the Options?

    Thanks

I don't think she gets anything per week because its voluntary unpaid leave so she gets 0 from DESk and DSP. However someone else could have a different answer.
Look at tax benefits though over the time as it could work out not too bad between ye, assuming you are paying high rate of tax.

Options: Take unpaid leave or go back to work.

Yeah I am on the Top rate but I think i might get an extra €200 a month, she might get some tax back for that year, depending??

How long can she stay out?

    Thanks

No social, but she will get tax back. I also informed ASTI of unpaid leave & you don't have to pay sub (they refund)....it all counts!

Is there any news on the case that the ASTI was supposed to be taking about the 30 days holidays that were taken away in last years budget ?? they would give your wife an extra 6 weeks if they were re-instated (probably no chance but....who knows?)

No, there's no pay. Why would there be? Women are entitled to 6 months paid maternity leave. Employers are not obliged to pay women on maternity leave. This is where the social welfare payment comes in. Why would the state continue to pay someone to remain on maternity leave after the 6 month period. Unpaid is unpaid.
