Self absorbed people

    I find AH fun to read . Never post here but there seems to be a pattern of people nattering on about themselves and trailing off topic the whole time . It starts off with one thing then leads onto how many kids they have , what type of job they have , where they are going on holiday , what they had for lunch etc. Are people really that self absorbed these days , do they crave attention . Seems lots of people need validation these days ...

    And yet you've posted in AH before telling the interweb world all about your FB habits, a grown man watching cartoons, books you read, your missus that's 6 years older than you... A real veil of secrecy.

    I'm not worried about being self absorbed
    I just want to be rich and famous on the front of Forbes magazine never mind what anyone else on this thread thinks! All the little people.

    A load of AH threads have the formula

    <long story about themselves>

    Followed by a token "has this ever happened to you?"

    Its the thread version of a 'selfie', which I propose we now call a 'postie'.

    Well maybe some need to create a thread as a means of releasing all their pent up and accumulated thoughts while they were in boards prison. ;-d

    I don't think you are meant to take it seriously, its just a long rambling conversation with the odd interesting point.

    I dont think there's that many people self absorbed people on here tbh but there are a few who do seem to wrangle their personal life and experience into everything thats been discussed. It only gets really annoying though when they use it as some sort of emotional trump card to dismiss all opposing views.

    Them - "Well I'm sorry if I dont want to do the rational and logical thing, I guess I'll just ignore the fact I'm a single mother trying to raise a kid with one leg shorter than the other and just be perfect then shall I?" - Cue 100 thanks and pages of consolations and congratulations for being so brave.

    Despite it having nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that you just cant park in the middle of the fcuking road.

    I'd consider myself to be fairly self-centered. I lose interest every time someone starts talking about themselves. It's awful really. Definitely my worst trait!

    Yes!

    Blah blah blah 'some heroic story about telling someone off or punching a scumbag' has this ever happened to you?
