I'll kill two birds with one stone with this thread if you don't mind!

    1. Just a recommendation first off for those wanting to familiarise themselves with Lightroom 3/4/5. I have scoured the net looking for tutorials, videos etc on Lightroom having used it intuitively and through trial and error for a few months. I found it excellent so wanted to become much more familiar with its workings. I came across an Introductory Course by Phil Steele (Steele Training.com) which I have to say is particularly noteworthy. Downside is that it costs around €25-30 but you get an 18-video course with another 15 or so videos on specific aspects. Anyway, I was VERY impressed with the course and completed it over a couple of days. Thought I'd mention it on here for those interested. It's a terrific Lightroom course and although you can get free ones out there which I've looked at, this course was very much worth my euro.

    2. Taking the course has led to my being interested in tidying up my largely messy catalogue of photos, now numbering close to 20,000, mostly unwanted snaps, copies and junk. From now on i will be cataloguing in a much more specific way with junk being deleted and picks being tagged and keyworded. But in the meantime I have this 'legacy' issue of poor workflow. Here are my queries:

    A. I used to do automatic uploads to iPhoto. I have everything over in Elements now, a better match for Lightroom as an organiser. Can I just delete my iPhoto catalogue so I'm not taking up GBytes of space with a duplicate catalogue like this ... and then just forget about iPhoto altogether?

    B. Is Elements Organiser actually the best place on my hard-drive for Lightroom to be accessing my images? (or have I just made that assumption)?

Any help in this area in general would be much appreciated. I think it's absolutely key for my future photography.

    Thanks!

Sorry to hijack but can I add a question-
    c. If I'm using Picasa can I import my settings (tags, starred photos) etc. easily to LR?
    Thanks,
    pa.
