Hey the DSPCA ( Irish equivalent) allows peeps to come and care for the animals it's great fun because it is like having one of every pet imaginable.

So if you can't afford to adopt or sponsor you can come for an hour and walk doggies or pet cats or do what ever you fancy.

The DSPCA on Campus Mount Venus Road, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16 has a visitor centre and a cafe with a shop !

    You can have a cuppa!

They have horses and every pet imaginable!

Now sit back and enjoy the vid of Abba, animals and silly humans! :p It will make you feel good!

I went there on Sunday and the girl in reception was a right bitch :(

Had fun though, unfortunately the dog we went to get was already reserved and the website hadn't been updated, so we left a form in specifying the type of dog we'd like!

Why did the lion break up with his girlfriend?

    Because he was a CHEETAH!

Volunteers or not, that girl shouldn't be in that position if she can't interact with people properly.

I went there with every intention of learning about the adoption process and hopefully getting on the road to adopting a dog, signed up for the fostering service...all the while dealing with snappy/short replies. The place wasn't busy and she was more interested in her phone and nails than answering a few questions.

Its a great service, well done to all the volunteers, but maybe she would be better off walking the dogs or feeding the horses.

Adopted a cat from the DSPCA last may. He's snoring away by my feet right now - great little fella! They do great work over there.

I hate volunteers who justify a poor attitude by saying they deserve a break because they're volunteering.

Nah, the picture coming across is.... young one hanging over the counter with fag hanging out off mouth and 'couldn't give a sh!t attitude'..... I don't fall for any off that crap.... 'You can please some people some off the time, but you can't please all people all off the time'. ....... just try not to destroy them on Boards...

Does the actual ISPCA do this, or is just the dublin one?

You mean allow people to volunteer ? I am only familiar with the DSPCA but I am sure other shelters allow it. They also look for foster homes ...people who might take a dog home for a short stay etc.

    All ISPCA allow adoptions :-)
