Strike It Lucky

I've been watching the reruns of Strike It Lucky on Challenge since the start of the year and have made a few observations.

I remembered the contestant introductions being ridiculously long but now that I've seen the show with an older head on me I can see why. The game itself is so short!

Challenge have currently shown 6 episodes of series 3. Since the beginning of series one, not one couple had gone for the £2,000 (no more than 2 Hot Spots) prize. Most seem to go for the £1,000 (no more than 4) instead. I can only guess that this is why they introduced the incremental cash amounts for every successful move in later series. You can hear Michael at this stage asking when someone will go for the £2,000 prize.

I don't think the show would have worked with another presenter. The original US version only lasted one series so I suspect that Barrymore and the, sometimes unusual, contestants were more popular than the game itself.

Is anyone else following it or is it just me?
