Classic Convertible Hire - 4 Seats

    Hi,

I'm looking to hire a classic 4 seat convertible in June this year. It's for our wedding (in Dublin area), but doesn't need to be chauffeur driven. Something like a 1965 Mercedes-Benz 220SE Convertible or 1961 Mercedes-Benz 300D Convertible (in the Audrey Hepburn Galaxy advert).

Does anyone have any suggestions for a car or know of anwhere in Ireland that hire these type of cars - location isn't a problem as I don't mind driving a couple of hours from Dublin.

Any help will be much appreciated!!

Your requirement is fairly specific, I doubt if there are any official wedding car hire firms that have one of those motors. I think your best bet might be to contact owners' clubs. Some owners are agreeable to hiring their classics on ad hoc basis if they are asked nicely.

if you have never had a 4 seat convertible, you might not be aware that no one can sit in the back of one when driving at anything other than a crawl without getting blown away by the wind generated by the car.

    I disagree.

And, as Jeremy Clarkson has remarked, it's very hard not to look like Hitler in the back of one!

Our ideal car choice is a Porsche Speedster replica - but as my future father-in-law doesn't have a driving licence, it has ruled out a 2-seater (unless she drives herself to the church!)

The church is literally 5 minutes slow drive away from the reception venue - hair should stay in tact.

Don't know about the Clarksons comment, Audrey Hepburn looks good in the Galaxy advert!

Does anyone have any other suggestions for a 4-seat classic convertible?
