print up cv's , hand them out into all and any shops
such as pennys, dunnes even your local shops

I find summer one of the hardest times to get a job :/ because no one is spending everyone is saving for christmas ...

you seem quite young considering that post (not an insult:p)

    just a few things

your looking for a summer job, so I assume your a student
any job you look for will offer minimum wage (don't expect higher unless you have a few years experience)
don't be picky take any summer job you can get, I've hated every job I've had so far, I'm quite young myself but in this recession you can't be picky
your going to be bored, trick is , just keep working then time flys

seriously though, don't expect a paying well job for a first job, specially a summer job other wise your gonna be disapointted

for example, my mam has 32 years retail experience, she only gets 9.06ph (granted she did earn higher until the economy crashed) but goes to show even with loads of experience, you won't get a WELL payed job unless you have qualifications or a trade
even with a qualification you'd have too start with a low salary in most cases

but in your case, a well payed summer job in my eyes is minimum wage because I'd happily take a minimum wage job right now ...

    best of luck
