Ford Mondeo 03 Losing Power/Not Turning Over/Electrical

Hi guys, my monde is slightly buggered. Anyone have any idea or experienced this before? Any input appreciated.:)

Ford Mondeo 03 1.8 Petrol Zetec 130000 milage.

The car is burning oil (Piston Rings) but I've been taking care of that with adding oil until I can get it fixed.
Car was driving fine until today. On the motorway the abs light came on; following that the radio and all electrics flickered whilst the dash gauges (Speedo, Odo, Fuel, Rev) all failed along with the dash light. This was followed by a loss of power through each gear and misfiring.

It rolled to the hard shoulder and wouldn't start. After about 5-10 minutes it started and I managed to get it of the Motorway and into an estate. I walked to get more oil (I feared the worst).

When I returned I added the oil and she started. I drove it slowly around to gauge her performance but the same thing happen again so I pulled over and knocked off the engine. It wouldn't start again. Shen wasn't even trying to turnover just an electrical clicking (Starter?)
After another 10 minutes she started up again and I felt brave enough to get to my destination.

Just as I arrived abs light, loss of power, misfiring. Any ideas what it could be?

Coils and battery were replaced last year.

Sounds like a charging problem to me , alternator burnt out or broken wire in circuit possibly. did the charge light come on ? other possible causes could be water getting into the gem module or ecu from the heavy rain lately, Floods maybe?

No charge light just the ABS. It will start after a while but then same symptoms occur.

I've been reading either battery or alternator.

This guys issue is exactly what is happening to me. Hopefully its the battery and not the alternator. Too bad I don't have a mutimeter to read the battery voltages!
