About 10-15 minutes ago, the sky lit up orange over Mitchelstown in Cork, first one fireball fell through the clouds towards the ground, very shortly after another followed, about 10 seconds, relighting up the sky...

This time there was a clear smoke trail after it... didn't hear anything as was driving on the motorway.

It waa extremely bizzare but seemed too slow for anything like a meteorite. Did anyone hear or see anything on this??

Might be worth starting a thread here though - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=267

With any luck someone doused Sean Sherlock in tar, loaded him into a catapult and literally fired him. No idea who the second TD was though..

Second fireball was Sherlock. He landed over the county border. The natives reignited him and fired it back.

The other Sean Sherlock. No one man can be that incompetent and ignorant, so there has to be two of them.

The army are training in Kilworth woods tonight and are letting off flares. I can hear them as I type this. Sorry, that's a bit of a boring answer, I prefer the idea of fireballs and meteorites!

Good to see flares making a comeback.

"Flares make a comeback in Cork". I can see this spreading like, err, a fireball. Flappy ankles for all. It's about time. I want a Starsky and Hutch style cardigan.
