Irish Rail website booking

Irish rail are a complete disgrace in terms of customer service. Tried to book 5 colleagues on the Dub to LK train today, however their website required me to set up a registered account for each, and the customer service number was not live as it is a Sunday. Ended up booking an express bus from Dublin airport, far simpler and straight forward process.

I agree that the Irish Rail site doesn't make it easy to buy tickets. However, After you choose your train you should have the option of picking any number of tickets from the drop down menu. At what stage were you asked to register 5 accounts?

I find the whole process very frustrating though. There is no advantage in having registered. The only thing it remembers is your name and address and you have to re-enter the passenger name every time anyway as well as credir/debit card etc. Some serious usability issues.

In each transaction, you can book up to 6 people on the same journey.

Accounts aren't limited in the number of bookings made (unless the credit card limit kicks in).

    I agree it's disgraceful

I don't understand why you had to set up separate accounts

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

There is a misunderstanding there somewhere. You only set up an account for the person that is paying for the tickets and not for each person travelling.

I really fail to see why you must register an account to book online.
