Drove by this dealer today and noticed they had no new stock in the showroom; according to Land Rover website they are "service only" now. Shame, http://www.landrover.ie/index.php?page=dealer-locator

They spent a fortune on a new ivory tower a few years back. Had Opel for years and lost that one too.

Surely they will take on something else or are a ripe prospect for another good franchise?

They have lost the Opel franchise well over a year at this stage probably 2 years. My parents bought several vans and cars of them back before they moved to the new garage. But they stopped when they moved to the new garage as they just became expensive and hard to deal with although I don't know what they are like in recent times to deal with. The garage is currently abit pathetic looking just filled with old cars certainly nothing that would attract me stock wise. The garage that got the Opel franchise in Kilkenny are very good specially for parts and service there the only main dealer garage I use in Kilkenny if I have issue with my car although I do routine servicing and all that myself so it's only really in there if there is a problem with it.

Same here. I drive an Insignia and it's serviced at Barlo's too. They are excellent and very obliging always. Whenever I go in too they are mad busy, but always make time for you and if they can slot you in immediately, they will. Their yard is packed with new cars, Opel and Nissan. I'd say they had at least 30 new cars in stock when I was there last week, even a Nissan Leaf.

Can't comment on Youngs as I never dealt with them, would have always considered them expensive though myself too.The place does look miserable. Especially with the neighbouring Peugeout, Renault/Dacia, Audi, VW/Skoda franchises all jammers with lots of new and good used stock, in less impressive premises than theirs.

Land Rovers are a pretty specialist, expensive purchase too. I'd say anyone buying one is much more likely to shop around (they are spending a huge amount afterall) and do their research first. Have seen a few new ones around lately with either Conlan or Autoboland stickers so perhaps that tells a story.
