So what's the craic with these exam results?

Hello all,

I'm a bit lost with regards to whether the results for last semester are coming out through MIS today, or not... The NUIG website itself has not been updated to include and information about the exam results or release dates for the 2013/14 academic.

Nor does the MIS release schedule page for online results is telling me that there are "currently no results scheduled to be released for this period and sitting". This has left me confused and wanting to know when they're going to be released, although it's not surprising that NUIG aren't on-the-ball for something like this.

I'm currently on an internship elsewhere at the moment, so I didn't really get the opportunity to ask anyone at college about it, and getting in contact with the exam office about it has been nothing short of a disaster - don't know why I bothered.

Does anyone have any info on when the exam results will be released, if they're being released at all!

I know people who've gotten theirs released to them today, currently waiting on someone to link me to the page they logged in from, I'll throw it up here when I get it.

There's a message up now saying both semester 1 and 2 results will be released on June the 10th??doesnt make sense

It varies a lot by course. Some were out today, others on Friday etc.
Usually through Blackboard in the courses my friends are taking.

I got an e-mail saying they'll be released through Blackboard on the 31st January between noon and 5pm

BB has been spitting the dummy all week unfortunately (for me and others, maybe not everyone). Hope you get get the results you're after!

I see... I didn't look at it since the exams due to being off on PEP, but it has been terrible today anyway. Thank you very much, and I hope that same for you (if you are getting provisional results as well)!

I think its an absolute disgrace how students have been left in the cold with regards recieving results. They have no problem slapping down these strict dates for the paying of fees etc where they publish it everywhere. Yet when students, who are paying a fortune ,are looking to recieve exam results they are so laid back about the whole thing. The communication on behalf of the college has been shocking and now blackboard has crashed, which I dont know why they have changed the format for recieving results. Its a joke. No doubt they will have a strict deadline for paying your repeat fee with the correct communication going out to the whole college.

This is the way it's always been. Official exam results are always released in the summer. It's been up to individual lecturers or colleges to publish provisional results. Nothing to do with the Exams Office.

Some lecturers have 200-300 scripts to correct. If they spend 20 minutes per paper, that can be a lot of time. Then there's rechecking, taking statistics, filling paperwork, etc. It's not a nice job.

The final results won't be available till June.
Why the big rush to get provisional Christmas results on the day they are released?

It not as if you can do anything about them between now and Monday anyway.

Blackboard will most likely be up and running before you go to bed tonight, so don't worry about losing any sleep.

In the meantime - Its Friday for Christ's sake. Enjoy the weekend and relax.

Your exam results ain't gonna change now.

I'm annoyed over this, tbh. We were told that it'd be Wednesday, originally, then any time between Wednesday and Friday, then by five on Friday. I get that the blackboard issues are nothing to do with the college, but christ. It'd be nice to get the results so I can know just how many repeats I'll have!

It is to do with the college, they host blackboard on their own server. Hopefully it will be sorted soon.

Anyone doing first year arts degree psychology? I went onto Blackboard into psychology and my grade and Im not sure if the mark there is from our first essay or my exam result, probably stupid of me lol but someone please help! :P Also with soc&pol they sent it out via email and my student number and result wasnt there anyone else have this problem?

I did psych last year and the mark you see on blackboard is your essay and exam result combined. That is your overall psych result.

At this point it's the fault of the lecturers at this point, I would get in contact with them and tell them to sort it out.

Although, as these are "provisional" results, the lecturers may not be obliged to disclose the results at all. Just get onto them.

Finally got the second last one back this morning and that went well, the one I'm most interested in still isn't up. The lecturer for that is really sound so I think I'll just wait it out instead of pestering him. It is annoying, though!
