    Hello

I wrote out a cheque to pay a bill but then realised the amount I owe is actually more so I'm wondering can I alter the amount on the cheque or must I tear it up and write a new one?

    Thanks,

    Flex

You can alter the amount & initial the changes. Best to cross out the amount altogether in the € box & enter the new amount clearly over the box & initial there too.

Thank you for the responses. I think I'll just do out a new cheque. Never made a mistake before with a cheque and feel bad because a book of blank cheques is yet another thing the banks charge you for.
