Spotted a much smaller gosafe this evening dublin bound on the N7 just before the Esso pumps at Kill. I think it might have been a VW Transporter, but cant say for sure. I saw it from way back and wasnt really watching my speed because the size of it fooled me, presuming it wasnt a gosafe as none are smaller than the regular transit size at a minimum. He had chevron on the rear doors which stands out a lot but just as I got close I saw the camera picture on the rear door so obviously I dropped the anchor.
Has anybody else spotted this new wolf in sheeps clothing. Gonna have to reprogram my eyes to expect these smaller vans...

That's a 100 km zone. Stay within the limits and take the pressure of spotting the revenue gatherers off yourself.

I believe they have some Transit Custom Vans now.

Question on them as well. Dont usally drive along national roads late at night, but seen one this evening, was going along at about 90 in a 100 zone. A row of LED lights above the back doors came on when me and car in front aproached, and switched off again just before we passed. Was on for about a second or so. Do they come on for every car, or would the driver just have been opening the door.

Yeah could have been a small transit, twas no more than a hiace size really. I havent seen led lights coming on at the back of any, but who knows, could be a new type of infrared fitting? And on the 100kph limit there around Kill, its only 80 for me in a truck, and i think i was on 80 but the natural reaction is to panic when you see one of these lads, if the fella behind me has a tense few seconds, then maybe he should be a bit further back no?? :D

    Lets be careful out there...

If it was a Ford, its more than likely a Garda van. GoSafe seem to have a preference to Renault but that said, Transits are in the fleet too. But an interesting development, interested to see some pictures if anyone comes across one.

every van you see round here is a Ford, that's probably because it's the same ones all the time, just as they no doubt have a Renault local to you

I'm on the road all day everyday countrywide, north and south. I've seen all the vans there are probably, from private gosafes marked and unmarked, to garda gatso marked and unmarked. But this van caught my eye from way back though coz it stood out as something new to be wary about - due to where it was parked and what with the chevron markings, and then as I got nearer I saw the camera symbol on the back. My money would be on it being a gosafe. We'll await further sightings...
