Well I recently turned 18 and have received my letter for my age card in the post and I was wondering am I allowed to wear a colander on my head for my ID Picture as it's apart of the Pastafarian religion .

Or is it even allowed in Ireland ?

    Might take a while.

There's an ongoing attempt by one of the regulars to get their collander onto the driving license.

Makes for a good read and you might get an idea of whether to make a go of it with the age card or not.

Under the Intoxicating Liquor Act 1988 (Age Card) Regulations 2010, the photograph has to be a photograph of your head and shoulders and it has to be countersigned by a guard after he is "satisfied" as to your identity.

There's nothing specific in the regs about wearing headgear. In practice, it will be up to the guard. If you're claiming to be an adherent of a religion which is not widely recognised and which is normally assumed to be a parody of religion rather than a actual religion, it will be up to you to persuade him that (a) pastafarianism is a genuine religion, (b) that you are a genuine adherent, and (c) that the tenets of the religion require you to wear a colander in circumstances in which you might be using the card to identify yourself.

I'm not saying that it's impossible, but it will be a fairly big ask to satisfy the guard about all that. There is no requirement that he simply take your word for it that it is so, and my guess is that he won't.

I'm sure a friendly cop would oblige.

And again into the rabbit hole we go. You are making the mistake Peregrinus of assuming that any 'genuine religions' exist :)

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

If that is a mistake, surely GerLee is the one who is making it? :)
