Question for trans girls - going out in public for the first time.....

My plan was to wait until I was on the full set of hormones (only on testosterone blockers so far) and they either outed me or at least made me passable, but going part time at home is making it more and more difficult to dress as a lad to go outside, so am thinking of maybe doing it sooner, but at the same time I also want to pass and I couldn't do that yet.

Also the last few weeks I've had this huge urge to get my ears pierced but have been resisting because this would be something I wouldn't be able to hide unlike, for example, my painted toenails or ladies socks.

At what point did you do it, and did you do it at home or go on holiday?

I'm not too sure if I'll be of any help. I've stood outside my front door (on a busy street) a few times having a cigarette when I couldn't be bothered to get changed. Last week I went to the pub wearing women's jeans and a woman's sweatshirt. The people there didn't really care, a few questions about the cowl thing on the sweatshirt but no-one actually mentioned anything that meant I had to say I was trans and I didn't feel like blurting it out. Women's jeans are pretty much a standard in my wardrobe now, but literally no-one has said anything about it to me, I don't even get looks (or haven't noticed them if I have.)

I thought I'd have to go out wearing a skirt and full make up but just wearing jeans and a hoodie feels grand. Like dipping my toe into things.

I did pretty much the same thing except I don't smoke. Just stood out on a rainy night with a drink in my head. It makes you more comfortable to be outside wearing girls clothes. I went shopping a few times at the dead of night fully done up, some tescos are open 24hrs so you can go in whenever during the night and shop around while its pretty empty. I was only only blockers when I decided to go full time. It was 3 months before I got my first hormones but I just couldn't wait. luckily I could pass most of the time but I was still pretty nervous. Just take you're time and take baby steps when you're ready.

I went for a walk in a park with my partner. After that,it was trips to dublin. Used to make a weekend of it. Arrive as male on friday and dress for the whole weekend until it was time to go home. Used to go shopping and for food and out then in the night for drinks. like yourself,im finding it harder and harder to wear male clothes, because i know that isint the real me. its like im dressing as a man to hide the fact im a woman.
