Hen night budget

    Hi all

I'm planning my hen for later this year and just wondering what's a reasonable budget to aim for per person. I'm keeping everything local (we all live in Dublin) so the idea is maybe hire a private cinema for a movie late afternoon, then stop off somewhere for a cocktail and finally have dinner in a gastropub and drinks there until they close.

I expect the movie + refreshments could be €30 a head (that would include popcorn, chocolate, soft drinks plus prosecco/ wine), then money for dinner (€40?) plus drinks (depends?) plus taxi home (€20).

I assume the above isn't too much to ask? What's the going rate an attendee would spend on a hen these days? I haven't been on a hen in a few years, back then we had a weekend down the country which included a big night out. I think it worked out a few hundred quid each! I really don't want to be obnoxious and expect people to spend more than is reasonable. Any thoughts appreciated, thanks.

Sounds reasonable to me. I'd love a night like that. Maybe give people the option to just come to meal if they don't wish to come to cinema or vice versa so you can have the maximum friends join you?

I've been to two recently one was two nights down the country for 150e and one was one night for 100. Thought both were very reasonable. Any more than 150 and I wouldn't attend a hen night.

My sis is having 2 hens! We have a weekend away booked but that is just for bride, bridesmaids, SIL, mother of the bride and her friend. So 8 of us in total which is what my sister wanted. Its 185pp for 2 nights B&B, 1 dinner, a spa treatment and champers and chocolate in each room

We are then organising a separate night in a nightclub (reserved room) for everyone else, friends, cousins etc. Club aren't charging us in so people will just be paying for their drinks. Might arrange a dinner beforehand for those who want to join us earlier.

I think 100 max each is fair but would usually incl accom in that but a Taxi home is as good:)

Hens I've been to cost between 130 and 180 Euro plus the drinks... Have something that can be optionally excluded by someone who may be on a tighter budget.
We had couple of nights away with day-time activities, which some girls opted to leave out, e.g. surf lessons, spa treatments, etc... Main thing is we were still together having the craic in the evening over dinner and drinks.

I think your being very considerate to the other people going to the hens and that should be applauded, as so many people wouldn't even think of the cost on others- well done! I love your idea of the day/night, think it will appeal to most people! (Might even rob it myself!). I think the cost is very fair, and as a previous poster said, you could give them the option to pick going to one over the other if they wish.

The one thing I'd suggest would be to give plenty of notice so that people can budget for it accordingly (throwing a few quid away on payday for a few weeks).

Hope you have a great time!

I am keeping mine cheap and cheerful. Food, drinks and games in the house then off into town in a taxi for a bop. Think it will cost about €25 each for all that then people can buy their own drinks and hop in a taxi home when they are done.

Getting married abroad so people are already spending money to come to the wedding. People I know cant afford to be spending 150/200 on a night out these days and I would not want them to spend that just for me for a night out.

Just also wanted to applaud you for being considerate! Think hens which are wkd long affairs of activities, food, drink and accomadation are asking a lot to say the least! Will have one night out on the town with the girls myself and happy out with that!
