Should I switch from UPC to Sky

ok, have the basic UPC box. Am sick to death of the poor performing menus, the channels skipping, jumping back to the UPC channel etc etc etc

So we made the decision to switch to sky.

Rang UPC to cancel this morning and they said they could upgrade me to
    • the horizon tv only package for €39/m (so no broadband or phone),
    • that its menus were much better than what I was used to,
    • I could search the on demand offering by typing in what I was looking for,
    • I could record 4 channels and watch a fifth and
    • store 380h of sd tv.
    • Plus hubby could keep his beloved setanta sport.
    • But of course we'd be tied into a 12m contract.
On checking out sky offering carefully,
    • we would go for the family package €36/m.
    • It seems to get the on demand offering you need a separate broadband connection or presumably pay for their broadband?
    • Storage is less,
    • record 2 programmes only and
    • it will cost me some money to change.
    • There's no setanta and getting that separately is expensive (€200/y).
    • It does have sky atlantic though.
    • I've also seen it in operation and it appears v reliable and fast.
    Hmmm.

Not sure now what to do. I'm tempted but am worried that in fact it will perform just as poorly as what I have already and I still won't get to see "Girls" ;)

My main worry is that horizon tv will still perform poorly. What do people think? Remember, we don't care about broadband offering.

    TIA

Stay away from sky imo, we moved and the picture and sound quality was nowhere near as good as with upc and moved back very quickly, plus their customer service is just terrible, when u want to cancel the real problems begin

Ring UPC and tell them that you are moving to Sky to see if they'll give you a discount. Then decide.

They increased our bill and after one phone-call, the monthly fee was dropped to €25 less then what they would be charging us. (TV and internet). They also threw in a better modem.
