Deficit in wages

    Hi there,
I've worked as a sales assistant in a small family firm for over ten years, recently we have had financial problems, i.e. paying suppliers on time etc.
Last week my employer told me that he couldn't afford to pay my full wage ( this applied to the rest of the staff too ), but he would make it up when cash became available. Is he within his rights to do this without our consent ?
    Thanks
    Haggis52
