The Railway Children. (OK, it's my personal favourite).
    Up.
    Miracle on 34th Street.
Any of the old animated Disney films - Bambi, Dumbo, 101 Dalmations, etc..
    Swallows and Amazons.
    Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
    Bugsy Malone.
    The Secret Garden.

    The Iron Giant
    The Goonies
    Ghostbusters

The last two have the added bonus of casual 80's cursing in them.

    Thirded!!
Showed my 7 and 8 yo kids some of those and they loved them. Howls moving castle was amazing, especially when you consider the vintage!
I showed them Top Gun when they were 8 and 9 but ffwd the naughty bits and distracted them for the middle finger bit. They loved the film overall. Their bedroom sounded like carrier deck ops for a few days!
City of ember is really good also.
Tron went down well and the 80's synth was superb!
The Italian Job. The good one, not the rubbish one that came later. My lads sounded like Michael Caine for a while afterwards!
We watched the most recent terminator film too and i cant wait to watch the first few with them. Too rough for now but a 10 to 14 yo would have seen and heard a lot of what goes on.
Brought them to see Gravity too and they soaked it right up. Top movie for a kid with scientific tendencies.
The Dirty Dozen is another good one.
    Behind Enemy Lines
