I have the new UPC horizon box in my lving room under my television, there's about ten feet between the box and my bedroom (at the back of the house) and there I struggle to get any wifi signal, it drops constantly and is a big problem as that's where my computer is and I can't run a cable up to my room because it's at the back of the house, it's the same story with my phone, I have to use mobile internet, this only happened when I got the horizon box, the old one was fine you could get a signal in the shed, and that was 50mb, the one now is supposed to be 120mb, if anyone has a solution for this it'd be most appreciated,

Ten feet..you could just drill a hole into your room and attach a lan cable ..get your speed faster

I'd have to drill through two walls and a ceiling, plus it's a problem on my phone as well.

we went through 3 faulty boxes before this one which is finally working. Put your foot down and they will switch it for you.

It's a different box so it will potentially have a different transmission pattern in your home. There is probably nothing wrong with the box.

Use your old modem for WiFi, use your Horizon box for tele, problem solved.

There is, he doesn't get a signal. My reception dropped when I got horizon and is really bad with apple products

the thing is the horizon box is the replacement they sent us after I complained about the old one, so I wouldn't say there's anything really wrong with my box, but rather than all of the horizon ones maybe? Is there any way of boosting the signal so it will be stronger upstairs? I'd be happy with that.

The box will naturally have a different transmission pattern than the older box. That goes without saying.

I have Horizon and have no problem with Apple Macbooks on wifi.

You'd hardly expect two wifi routers made by different manufacturers to be exactly the same?

I would expect the newest box, that spent years in development to offer a better pattern......

Here's what I've used to get wired to another room instead of wireless. Basically sends the signal through the wires of your electrical system rather than wi-fi.

    http://http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-PA251KIT-Multi-Streaming-Powerline-Starter/dp/B005KTM2G6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1391252301&sr=8-1&keywords=pass+through

Just plug into back of router and into socket, and then 2nd unit in 2nd room from plug to back of device. Also has socket pass through, so it's not using up a socket.

Actually the rep will ask for you account details tell you he has changed a setting and to try again, net result, in my case anyway, nothing will have improved.

The pass-through is actually for more than just saving a socket. It also filters any RF noise from whatever you've got plugged into it from entering the system and interfering with the connection. Laptop power supply bricks are one of the biggest culprits in this regard.

... to suit your house of course. Have you experimented in moving the box about - even if it has to be the corner of a room try moving it around that location and check if it makes a difference.
