Just wondering what type of minerals are people using pre lambing?,used lifeline buckets myself previously but found the ewes munching through them rapid (5 buckets for 12 day with a 100 ewes@ €18 per bucket)

When buckets were put in ewes would rush in and bite chunks out the licks.maybe this was due to the molasess which the minerals are mixed in?

Found the same with lifeline. Although I plan to use em again close to lambing - when I have the ewes in the shed. When they're in I give em a bucket for a while, and then take it out again overnight, otherwise it's gone too quick.

They have a crystalyx bucket now. These are more expensive (90 odd euro for 40kg bucket) but they last a lot longer I find.

Reckon I am finished with buckets this year. I left an 18kg lifeline bucket to 21 ewes on Saturday afternoon, this (Monday) morning they were 2/3rds the way through it, €20 each. Back to bolus land and tough titty for them if they don't like it.

Ye I'm going to use Bolus's this year, have a copper / cobalt issue here and feed up dosing ewes and then lambs during the summer, don't have the time. Anyone use animax bolus's and how do they find them? How often would you have to bolus? I was thinking ewes pre mating and then pre lambing covers lambs for 10 weeks, then bolus lambs cover them for 6 months this be accurate?

I've given the ewes Animax cobalt bolus before tipping I think it was. I'll probably get the selenium & iodine ones as well and maybe copper too. The Animax last six months according to their blurb.

Only used the Mayo Healthcare ones on the lambs. Rang them up before and they said to bolus at six weeks and then at weaning.

I do the ewes pre lambing and the lambs at 10 wks, my scanning is high enough, so I don't do them pre mating.
We need cobalt here in the lambs, we've done a few trials here and animax has shown an improvement and the new borns are livelier as well

How many weeks before lambing do you do them rancher? Done them here when i was vaccinating them, first timed doing it so hopefully i will see a difference.

Same as you 4-6 weeks before lambing, I will be interested to hear what you think.
