G.DMT is ADSL 1 as far as I know, and 8Mbit is the max you'll get from that. Are you on a very isolated exchange? The line itself looks excellent.

Might be a 7Mb exchange there, not an ADSL2/NGB one.

Call your provider and have them confirm.

Sorry what do you mean by isolated exchange?.. As in are many people on it?. My house is like 30 metres or something from the exchange

Not all exchanges were upgraded to ADSL2 (which is capable of up to 24Mb). So, depending on your location and the number of people serviced by your exchange, it may still be on standard ADSL, which is 8Mb max. Being so close to the exchange is handy in one way, in that you will get the full speed that the exchange is capable of (either 8Mb or 24Mb), but fibre rollout is serviced from the green cabinets in the street at the moment and not direct from the exchanges so you're not likely to get a fibre upgrade in the current roll-out.

there is a sticky in this forum where you may be able to identify if your exchange has gone to ADSL2/NGB (ie 24Mb) - or check your provider's website or phone them

They are still doing some NGA work. So the OP might get an upgrade, but I wouldnt hold your breadth.

I know the exchange isn't 24mb.on the website Ireland offline it says its 8mb but I thought I'd get closer to 8mb with being so close to the box and the line attenuation being so good..

If you test at 3AM you'll probably get 6.3ish Mb down. A lot of those older exchanges have limited backhaul and will congest a bit/a lot at peak times.
